Meet Prof. Smita Pattanaik: Pioneer in Pharmacology Research
Prof. Smita Pattanaik, MD, DM, is a distinguished figure in the field of Pharmacology, currently serving as a Professor at the esteemed Department of Pharmacology, PGIMER, Chandigarh. With her extensive academic background and professional experience, Prof. Pattanaik has established herself as a leader in pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) studies.
About Prof. Pattanaik: Prof. Smita Pattanaik obtained her MD, DM degrees from the Department of Pharmacology, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. As a Fulbright-Nehru academic and professional excellence fellow, she received specialized training in Emory clinical and translational research laboratory at Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA, USA.

Prof. Pattanaik's expertise lies in conducting PK and PD studies on routine immunosuppressant drugs for organ transplantation and SLE treatment. Additionally, her lab actively collaborates with the Department of Urology at PGIMER to develop novel anticancer drug repurposing strategies in genitourinary cancers. Her current focus is on devising innovative formulation strategies for clinically important drugs, aiming to significantly benefit patients. Proficient in clinical trial design, Prof. Pattanaik has played a pivotal role in introducing Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) services in the Department of Pharmacology, enhancing routine patient care standards.

About lab
Welcome to our lab, we are located in the PGIMER, Chandigarh
At our forefront, we conduct ground breaking research in two pivotal realms: Pharmacokinetic (PK) and Pharmacodynamic (PD) studies of standard immunosuppressant drugs for organ transplantation, and the repurposing of anti-cancer medications. Our core mission is to bridge the gap between laboratory insights and real-world impact by translating our findings into clinical trials. Ultimately, our aim is to revolutionize patient care in these critical areas of healthcare.
